At Helga May, we offer clothing for women who are young at heart — those who love to wear vibrant, colourful styles that feel as good as they look. Our pieces are easy to wear, full of personality, and made for real women who want comfort without sacrificing confidence.

The brand Helga May is named after the owner’s grandmother, Maj — a charismatic woman who was a natural leader among her peers. Her spirit lives on in every garment we send out, inspiring strength, colour, and individuality.

We’ve been proudly operating since 2017, with our base at 33 Burrows Street, Tauranga, New Zealand. We also have a small outlet store at our warehouse, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–3pm. Please note the outlet is run separately to this website and is where we offer last season’s styles and factory seconds.

Our primary focus is wholesale, and we’re proud to have an incredible network of stockists across Australia and New Zealand. They always get first access to our newest drops — which means if you’ve spotted something fresh on our Facebook or Instagram, you won’t find it on this website just yet. We give our stockists exclusivity for 30–45 days before listing new arrivals here.

We’re a small family-run business, led by husband and wife team Alice and Ross, raising three young children by the beach and loving the lifestyle Tauranga brings.

What keeps us going? Hearing from customers who say they’ve been stopped in the street — “Where did you get that dress?” or “That colour is stunning!” — honestly, hearing feedback like this makes our day :).

We truly believe anyone can feel amazing in a dress. Some may doubt it — but once they try one of ours, they see it for themselves. And so do others.
